Annual Report 2016

24 April 2024|Annual Report

In 2015 the Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) responded Pope Francis’ call to a Year of Mercy with the launch of Mercy in Motion. This campaign kicked off our Global Education Initiative (GEI), an ambitious plan to increase the number of forcibly displaced people served by JRS educational programmes, and to raise $35 million over 5 years to make this possible.

In 2016, JRS raised over 40 percent of the GEI goal, and we started building a foundation to increase the capacity of our educational work. We have implemented JRS-wide teacher training, we are developing an inter-faith reconciliation programme, and we are strengthening our institutional structures to improve and expand our work.

JRS 2016 annual report is presented through the words of Pope Francis: Welcome, Protect, Promote, Integrate. Read it to learn more about how we served more than 725,000 people in 50 countries.
