JRS welcomes the decision of the Thai government to grant the right to work to Myanmar refugees living in camps

On 26 August 2025, the Thai Cabinet approved a resolution allowing refugees from Myanmar living in temporary shelters to work legally in Thailand. This represents a significant step towards self-reliance and dignity for refugees, while also contributing to Thailand’s economy and society.
As a member of the Myanmar Response Network (MRN), JRS contributed to this joint statement commending the policy and highlighting the need for strong implementation measures to ensure protection, access to services, and opportunities for refugees.
