Our work in Malaysia

In late 2023 JRS established an office in Kuala Lumpur, supported by the regional office and local partners.

Malaysia has not ratified the 1951 Refugee Convention and its 1967 Protocol. This results in the absence of a formal legal framework to provide protection and safeguard the rights of refugees and asylum seekers

In response to these challenges, JRS Malaysia offers certified English language courses in collaboration with Jesuit Worldwide Learning, alongside digital skills training with pathways to internships in partnership with JRS Singapore. Additionally, JRS Malaysia provides targeted training for teachers at refugee-led learning centres, equipping them with the necessary skills to enhance their teaching and better support their students.
