Build Communities of Solidarity
Together we can build hope.

The erosion of solidarity
Despite conflicts and violence increasing across the world, the international system that once supported refugees and forcibly displaced people is being dismantled. Funds that once provided life-saving assistance are being drastically reduced, even as resources continue to flow freely into other areas.
Refugees and displaced people are too often met with hostility or indifference, excluded from public conversation and dehumanised. This erosion of solidarity and compassion threatens the human dignity of all.
Yet there is still hope. We can all choose a different path — one rooted in compassion, justice, and community.
The challenges ahead
Present in some of the most difficult emergency situations, JRS stands alongside our refugee brothers and sisters, sharing in the devastating impacts of humanitarian funding cuts.
While we work tirelessly to continue providing vital assistance during this period, we recognise that many challenges still lie ahead. Beyond the struggle to meet basic needs, millions of children risk losing access to education. Mental health and psychosocial support are at risk of disappearing for those who most need healing. Existing tensions may deepen, creating new divisions and conflicts.
At the same time, JRS has the privilege of witnessing the power of people coming together, choosing to live in solidarity and hope with their brothers and sisters.
Building communities of Solidarity
Only through concrete acts of solidarity at the local level can we restore dignity and hope to those who have been forced to flee their homes. By creating safe spaces where everyone is welcomed, respected, and valued, we make it possible for all to contribute to a shared future.
What you can do
If you too want a world where peace and human dignity prevail, we invite you to live in solidarity, recognising one another as brothers and sisters.
Here are some ways you can help build and strengthen communities of solidarity:
