JRS is among the organisations that signed the statement presented by Associazione Papa Giovanni 23 (APG23) for the 55th Regular Session of the Human Rights Council.
JRS, together with APG23 and other co-signatory organisations, called on each State to establish a sustainable national infrastructure for peace that aims to the respect, protection, and promotion of human rights, to promote peaceful settlement of disputes within States, to peace culture and education, and to violence and conflict prevention.
We suggested creating a Special Rapporteur on the right to peace. We also asked OHCHR to promote and mainstream the right to peace as well as to give it greater visibility.
