Peace in Diversity: Celebrating the Festival of Encounter 2025

14 October 2025

Hope can arise from encounter: it takes shape in the ability to recognise the value of differences and to transform them into a collective strength. A strength that calls us to resist hatred and division and to remember that there is so much more that unites us than separates us.

It is from this awareness that we can build an inclusive, multicultural reality in which every person feels welcomed, respected, and valued.

JRS promotes this vision through initiatives that foster dialogue, exchange, and mutual sharing. Among these, the Festival of Encounter (FoE), organised annually by JRS Jordan, stands out as a special occasion: a space where refugee and migrant communities living in the country come together and express themselves through their own cultural and artistic traditions.

During the event, music and performances enliven the day, while in the bazaar area refugee artisans have the opportunity to display and sell their handmade crafts. The participants also present their traditional garments and share their personal stories, thereby helping to deepen connections and strengthen the sense of community.

“All the festival attendees showed respect in their interactions, and the experience greatly expanded my knowledge and personal awareness of cultural diversity. By learning to appreciate and respect the unique customs, traditions, and values of each nationality, I also discovered how to engage more positively with others,” said a participant in the Festival.

Through respect, listening, and collaboration, it is possible to build more just, peaceful, and inclusive societies — where diversity does not divide, but unites.
